Broadcast Program

D esigned for high school and post secondary students this program explores the growing world of digital video production, broadcast journalism and live sports production. Students learn on professional equipment including use of a mobile TV studio truck. They gain experience in front of the camera as well as behind it using provided cameras, industry leading video editing software, field production lighting and sound recording equipment.

Over the course of the semester students learn video journalism principles like writing and producing stories to create a weekly news style program. They will also use the live studio truck to broadcast sports events held at the school, interviewing players and coaches. The live broadcasts feature play-by-play announcers, color commentary, and sideline reporters as well as full athlete stats. The broadcasts will be featured online as well as in the local TV market.

This is a specialized program that sets students up for future careers in film and broadcast as well as showcasing school events to students, parents and the local community. Sports, graduation, band, cheer as well as other school activities can all be seen live as well as archived.
